Being very thorough and diligent, Dr. Washburn will ascertain a diagnosis based upon your symptoms, a neurological exam, and your history.  Tests may be necessary to reach a definitive diagnosis.

The following are some tests which may be required.

EEG (Electroencephalogram)
Similar to an EKG (electrocardiogram), but rather than having electrodes placed on chest wall, electrodes are placed over head. This is most frequently used for altered mental status, seizures, and dizziness.

EMG/NCV (Electromyography/Nerve Conduction Velocity)
Very useful in peripheral nerve or muscle disorders. Involves very small shocks performed on the extremities (NCV). The EMG component involves very small needles that are inserted in various muscles.

NEURO-IMAGING
Various methods to look at the brain and spinal cord. Involves MRIs or Cat Scans.
